Bodywork is a mind/body healing method consisting of hands on energetic touch or somatic movements. Bodywork encourages movement of all of the energy bodies and circulates trapped energy throughout the meridians.
Body work strengthens the mind and body, as well as the connection between all of the energy bodies. This allows all of the energy bodies to resist energetic blockages so then the flow of energy will remain consistent enough to keep the physical body energized and balanced.
Energy is able to flow in any direction where there is a driving force. When the body is healing, the driving force becomes the body's attempt to heal itself. The driving force can be physically influenced through movement and breathing. The driving force can be referred to as the intention to move energy. Common bodywork includes Dance, Yoga, Pilates, Reiki, Breath work, Acupressure, lymphatic massage and more.
Exercising encourages overall good health and the benefits of exercise for healing manifest physically with consistency. Physical exercises increase the body's ability to regenerate new muscle cells, increase cognition and ease depression and anxiety. Some healing exercises include Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, and sometimes strength resistance training when done with slow, steady movements.
The Lymphatic system is the body's detox system. Energy work to flush out the lymphatic system is done through body movements or by stimulating lymph fluids throughout the lymphatic vessels. Lymph fluids transport lymphocytes and other disease fighting cells to infected or injured parts of the body and also moves bacteria and other waste products to the lymph nodes where they are destroyed. Essentially, lymph naturally moves throughout the body, however, movement can be slowed due to energy blockages. Any exercise, breathing method, or massaging that increases blood circulation can aid lymphatic drainage.
Breathwork involves any type of breathing exercises or techniques to improve mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing by either relieving tension, or increasing energy in the mind and body. Breathwork can reverse the body's "fight or flight" response, increase oxygen intake and activate the nervous system. When done for relaxation, deep, controlled breathing allows the body to de-stress and enter into Alpha brainwave state. When done to increase energy, active and controlled inhalations invigorates the body and boosts the metabolism.
