Meditation trains the mind's awareness towards your thoughts and activities to attain emotional and mental clarity for spiritual balance. Meditation also aids imagination and creativity. There are many styles of meditation but the purpose of meditation varies from person to person.
Meditation is a way to train the mind to find peace within the body. Finding peace within the body allows the mind to potentially pick up on new patterns to incorporate into daily life. Patterns can include more mindfulness, self care, and equanimity. Meditations can be done standing, sitting, walking, or through yoga. The goal is to find your definition of balance through your mind.
Below, you will find six purposes for meditation
-VISUALIZATION
visualizing your intentions helps bring awareness to what you are trying experience. By intentionally seeing what you are visualizing, you are giving your brain an opportunity to process these experiences as a part of your way of being. Visualization brings clarity to your state of mind by alleviating anticipatory anxiety.
-CENTERING
It is quiet obvious for us to know when we are off balance, so using meditation to become centered will bring more inner peace into our minds. Centering our minds helps remind the brain to stay in alignment to the most important aspects of our lives and to focus on staying in the present moment.
-GROUNDING
Grounding increases the flow of energy that connects you back to the root of who you are. Being grounded in your life experience will balance the amount of energy used from overthinking or being too overactive. Grounding works well when paired with breathwork because as you breath in and plant yourself into grounding meditation, you allow the natural flow of energy to circulate throughout the body.
-PROGRAMMING THE MIND
Meditation for programming helps organize your thought patterns, and brings clarity to patterns in your life that aren't serving you. Programming shifts our awareness to how we operate and opens the opportunity for our minds to develop new patterns that will enhance new life experiences.
-RE-CHARGE AND RESET
Recharging and resetting your energy keeps the mind and body from becoming overwhelmed by the events that take place on a day to day basis. It's important to give yourself time away from stressful circumstances by creating a safe space to unwind. This kind of meditation helps restore energy so one can continue to maintain balance without becoming to energetically drained.
-SHIELDING/PRESERVING
Shielding meditation helps preserve the state of being that is already attained through meditation or energy work. The purpose of shielding is to protect the mind and body from further interference.
